Local Missions
  1. Guardian Shelter Different groups in our church help the residents in areas such as self-help and personal hygiene plus doing fun activities such as arts and crafts. Refreshments are served. These same types of projects are also done separately with the children at the shelter.

  2. Friends Club WMU groups go to an apartment complex monthly and lead children in Bible Study in a club atmosphere.

  3. Pleasent Acre Day School  Senior adult ministries budget funds to support this ministry. Also, the residents are served lunch and invited to perform annually for the Count On Us Club.

  4. Stewpot Cleaning supplies are furnished the Stewpot regularly. Each week our surplus food is given to the Stewpot which is ready to serve. Several of our groups also collect canned goods for the Stewpot.

  5. World Changers First Baptist Church spearheads the feeding and housing of hundreds of youth who come to Natchez from other states to do mission projects in Natchez and Adams County. Each roofing construction project requires about $2,000. Our church has sponsored at least one project each year. World Changers completes about 20 construction projects every other year. This requires  quite a commitment of time, people, facilities, and resources.

  6. Catholic Charities The Benevolence Committee cooperates with this organization to assist local people through crises times such as medical, financial, family stress, and death. Catholic Charities also is the organization which operates the Guardian and Sunshine Shelters. The Love Fund is used for this ministry.

  7. Missions Day  Each March, First Baptist Church groups do different types of mission work in Natchez.  We have groups teaching Bible studies and playing games with people who live in apartment complexes and nursing homes.  Some men service cars of widowd and widowers. Some groups help clean homes, do construction jobs, and clean or mow yards.  Some groups do servant ministries such as picking up trash, prayer walking, distributing water and taking snack lunches to personnel at the hospitals, police station and sheriff's office.

  8. Baptist Children's Village First Baptist Church regularly gives financially to support this state-wide Baptist ministry to special children. The Village has at least five campuses located throughout the state. Courts and other agencies in Natchez send several children and adolescents to the Village. The Village is committed to meeting the needs of each child while that child must be removed from his/her home. This includes professional help at all levels which is very expensive.

  9. Hospitals Magazines are provided for all patients. Medical personal are provided lunch on Missions Day each March.

  10. Angel Tree Each Christmas our church provides gifts for at least 40 children from Natchez or Adams County as well as children at the Baptist Children's Village.

  11. Nursing Homes Different mission groups involve all age-groups to minister to the nursing homes with music, devotionals and Christmas gifts. The WMU makes lap robes each year for the nursing homes.

  12. Law Enforcement Each year our church recognizes the Police and Sheriff Departments as a part of Missions Day.

  13. Thanksgiving Baskets Each year our church provides a basket of food to approximately 15 families. This project involves the entire Sunday School. Each basket can be valued at $50.

  14. Natchez Interagency Council Ongoing cooperation with this council insures coordination and avoids duplication while making sure that only the truly needy receive available assistance.

  15. Adams Baptist Association Our local association of 12 Southern Baptist churches work together to start new churches and mission points, share Christian fellowship, support each other in times of need, assist each other with leadership training for volunteer workers in church programs, and coordinate mission projects such as partnerships with other associations, states, and mission points around the world.
